Kids on Bluegrass
Kids on Bluegrass is a program designed for musicians ages 18 and younger who are interested in developing their musicianship. KOB does not teach participants to play their instruments, but instead teaches stage presence, musical arrangement, and how to play in a group. Rehearsals run from 10am-4pm, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with hour long lunch breaks from 12-1pm. Camp meets inside Gate 4. Performances are late Friday and Saturday afternoon on the festival's main stage. All participants are required to audition for the teaching staff on Thursday morning before rehearsals begin with a memorized song of their choosing; they must be able to play without any parental assistance. For more information, please contact Helen Foley at 650-906-2322.
The California Bluegrass Association is well known and acknowledged for our Kids on Bluegrass programs. KOB has been emulated by festivals around the world including the International Bluegrass Music Association’s (IBMA) annual event, the World of Bluegrass. To donate to this program, please click here.
